The two premiere publications serving teddy bear collectors, Teddy Bear & Friends and Teddy Bear Review, will merge into one title in 2012 published under the name Teddy Bear & Friends, published on a bimonthly schedule by Jones Publishing. The deal was announced Jan. 27 at the Debut of Dolls and DOTY Awards Banquet during IDEX trade show in Orlando, Fla. Jones Publishing also presented its Ambassador Award to Barrie and Danny Shapiro of The Toy Shoppe at the same event.
October’s Online Hallowe’en Artists Studio Trick or Treat show raised nearly $1,000 for Bat Conservation International (www.batcon.org), with almost 2,000 visitors going “door to door” to the 23 virtual studios and the Castle Hallowe’en Museum, among other stops available at www.halloweenstudiotour.com.
The Toledo Doll, Bear & Toy Show, formerly known as the Toledo Glass City Doll Show, is expanding its offerings in 2012. Now under the management of Sandy Kean-Bullock of Alora’s Attic, the show will feature new, antique, and artist teddy bears as well as dolls and accessories. Author and Teddy Bear Review columnist Ken Yenke will be appraising bears and antique toys at the show, as well.
