Puppenhausmuseum is full of interesting vignettes.The Puppenhausmuseum in Basel, Switzerland, displays thousands of vintage teddies and dolls in spectacular vignettes.

 

Imagine 2,500 vintage teddy bears under one roof. Add hundreds of doll houses ranging from Victorian to contemporary and even more antique toys from the 18th and 19th centuries, and you’ve got a collector’s dream museum. The Puppenhausmuseum in Basel, Switzerland, is four floors of teddy bear and toy amusement for families, children and anyone with a soft spot for cuddly creatures.

Florida teddy bear artist Sherry Shepardson vividly remembers her first glimpse of a grizzly bear in the wild. She and her husband, Bob, had taken a trip to Yellowstone National Park, and she spotted her first big bruin near the Grand Tetons.

A pair of Bing jumping mohair chimpanzees from 1919 are soft-stuffed, fully jointed and when wound will take small jumps, enough to go across a 20-foot floor area. There is a Bing tag on their right arm. Selling for about $2 each in 1919, they bring more than $1,500 today. Ken Yenke explains the evolution and collectibility of plush animals.

Anna, you have a Japanese KAMAR teddy dating from the late 1950s and early 1960s. This little bear was one of the most popular imports from Japan at the time, selling for little more than a dollar. Today, in great condition, they bring $75 or more.
